Life Care Services Ranked #1 in Independent Living Customer Satisfaction by J.D. Power

By News

Nation’s second-largest senior living operator receives highest score in all 6 factors

NorthPointe Woods is excited to announce our management company, Life Care Services, has become the first and only senior living company to rank first in customer satisfaction for three consecutive years among independent senior living communities in the J.D. Power 2021 – Senior Living Satisfaction Study. Life Care Services also achieved the highest score in all six factors of satisfaction: resident activities, community staff, price paid for services received, resident apartment/living unit, community building and grounds, and dining.

“Life Care Services is honored to be recognized by our customers as the best among independent senior living communities for the third consecutive year,” says Joel Nelson, president and CEO of LCS, the parent company of Life Care Services. “We are privileged to serve nearly 40,000 seniors across the nation. This recognition is meaningful because our residents recognize and value our commitment to serving them first and foremost, even as our industry navigated challenges over the past year.”

Life Care Services ranked highest in independent living resident overall satisfaction with a score of 817 in the J.D. Power U.S. Senior Living Satisfaction Study. The study is based on responses from residents living in an independent senior living community within the previous three years.

“For 50 years, our employees have been dedicated to creating opportunities for purposeful living filled with rich experiences,” added Nelson. “There is nothing better than seeing how our employees have impacted those we serve and how that dedication has made a difference for our residents and customers.”

Update Regarding Mask Policies at NorthPointe Woods

By News

The CDC announced on May 13, 2021 that fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance. According to the CDC, people are considered fully vaccinated:

  • 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or
  • 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine

We share your enthusiasm about the news and are hopeful COVID-19 rates continue to decline. Because our community follows guidance from health and regulatory agencies, our policies reflect the following:

  • Independent living residents who are fully vaccinated are no longer required to wear a mask in the independent living areas of the community unless required by local and state regulations, as mentioned above.
  • All residents, regardless of vaccination status, must wear masks on any form of community-based transportation.
  • Family and friends visiting residents in independent living need to wear a mask when entering and exiting and while in common spaces within a community. Masks can be removed when visitors are in a resident’s apartment.
  • All residents in assisted living must continue to wear masks as required by the CDC for assisted living.
  • All independent living residents, family, and friends visiting residents in the assisted living areas in communities must continue to wear masks and adhere to the safety protocols in these settings.
  • Individuals taking part in a tour experience or attending an event at the community must wear a mask to meet with our team and experience the various areas of our community.

There are no changes to our mask policy for employees at this time, regardless of their vaccination status. The CDC states it isstill learning how effective the vaccines are against variants of the virus that causes COVID-19.  For the protection of residents and fellow employees, all community employees must wear masks, regardless of where they work within our community.

The health and safety of residents and employees remains our highest priority. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and adjust our protocol to help ensure the health and safety of our residents and employees. With further questions related to our COVID-19 protocols, please contact us directly.

NorthPointe Woods Featured in Scene Magazine

By News, Uncategorized

NorthPointe Woods is pleased to have been featured in a recent edition of Scene Magazine, with an informative article titled, “Where you live could help you live a longer, healthier, happier life.”

Here is an excerpt from the article:

Research suggests, year after year, that something as simple as more social opportunities can support longevity and a more rewarding life—especially for seniors. When families weigh the costs and benefits, they may find a move to a senior lifestyle community offers that—and more. We talked to an executive director at a local retirement community for his take on the subject.

Senior Social Challenges

“Reaching retirement age often means less contact with work colleagues, friends and family. The loss of social contacts has a direct impact on mental and physical well-being,” says NorthPointe Woods Executive Director, Ron Monte.

The good news is taking advantage of chances to meet new people and developing new relationships have been shown in studies to reduce stress, ward off anxiety and depression, and reduce the risk of some physical health concerns. Seniors who choose to live in their home have options, too. Engagement in local senior centers, faith organizations and volunteer pursuits keep them occupied, but a common problem crops up: older adults often feel less comfortable driving or leaving their neighborhood, so those interactions become increasingly difficult.”

The Arts Can Help Us Living Longer, Happier Lives

By News

You’ve probably heard the good news. With each generation, we’re living longer. But just how much longer—and why? Well, life expectancy has jumped from just 45 years of age in 1900 to 80 in 2007. And many predict babies born today will likely live to 100 or older.

So, you may be wondering: what is the cause for our good longevity news? Advances in medicine certainly have contributed to longer lives. But today, even physicians acknowledge that healing/curing is perhaps only 60% medical. You’ll probably be surprised to learn the arts may account for at least a portion of that remaining 40%.

The National Endowment for the Arts asserts that participation in arts activities offers major lifestyle and health benefits, including:

  • Increased social engagement
  • Improved overall health
  • Improved cognitive functioning
  • Improved quality of life
  • Increased longevity

Perhaps it’s time to take up a new creative pastime that just may continue to add years to your life, such as making art, exploring photography, singing, writing or dancing.

Today’s senior living communities make it easy to explore the arts—with on-site amenities such as arts and crafts rooms and scheduled events that often includes arts opportunities for you or your aging loved one.

NorthPointe Woods Is the Art-Smart Choice. With an active arts culture and so many creative residents to inspire you, plus an all-new art room with top-notch instruction, you’ll be picking up a paintbrush or a camera in no time! (And you just might celebrate more birthdays.)
